Scooby Advice
Hi guys,
I am interested in buying an Impreza and would appreciate your help. I was looking at P1's and 2003/2004 'blobeye' Sti's. I went to Town and County in Aberdeen to ask about running costs as this was my only concern. The service manager said a 2003/2004 STi would cheaper to run as the service intervals would be 12monthly due to the low miles I cover whereas the P1 requires servicing every 6months. I thought that the service interval increased to 12months from 6months when the 2.5litre engine was launched? Could someone please clear this up for me. I would welcome any other information on runninmg costs of P1's and 2003/2004 STi's.
Cheers, John.

I can't really comment on running a P1 but i ran a MY03 STI PPP for a year.
Running the STI meant large fuel bills(20 mpg), 120 quid a year in tracker fees, fairly high insurance (600ish compared to my Audi S3's 275). I sold it on just before it was due a 4 year service and mot which was going to cost 300 quid. 3 year/40k services are pricey at 400 pound plus!
I also needed to put two tyres on it at around 120 each.
Hope this gives an idea.
If you are looking at MY03-04 your car would have a 2L engine requiring servicing 12 monthly/10 or 12k miles, can't remember which.
One thing about the P1 is i believe its not uncommon for the engines to let go around 60k and if not under warranty would relieve your bank account of a few grand.
Nik.
