Default Front Mount Interccoler Help

Hey folks, love the look of a front mount intercooler on a scoob, but am weary of fitting one to my 94 WRX JDM, as i have heard it will cause the engine to go pop, is this true as i dont have a mappable ecu at present and am getting married soon so dont think i can afford one!!

Any views??

Possible increase in lag but for early ecus you can now buy chips that can be mapped for your mods (PolarPerformance run by a guy called Scott T who posts on here) if you look on the front page at Claaarkios impreza i dont think he's running a remappable ecu with a fmic so may be worth asking him.

Anyone else have any opinions about the possible effects on my engine if i fit a front mount intercooler without mapping it, I know the lag will increase but can it cause my engine to die??

Thanks

Ive fitted a fmic to my 1993 wrx import yeah theres a slight bit of turbo lag but nothing else detrimental that ive noticed.
My ecu isnt remappable but I am using a scoobyecu chip and a greddy profecb boost controller im sitting at 327bhp according to my gtech meter.
other mods are listed in the view my scooby section

Cheers for that mate, what im really wondering is if i dont have the car mapped, will the car DET all over the place because of the extra cold air comming in or will the maf adjust the fuelling to suit??

In other words is it ok for me to put a front mount in??

Thanks lads!
