been offerd one and aturbo of an import classic could i do a strait swop on my uk car

what years for starters? Don't forget the JDM engine internals are different to EU as well.

yes its a straight swap.

make sure the ecu is from a wrx and not a sti as its the sti internals that are far different to yours with stronger crank and forged pistons so your engine would not last five minutes with the sti ecu in place, also it wouldn`t cope with the extra boost and 8,000 rpm limit it is mapped for

The import wrx ecu would fit straight onto yours with no problem, however you would need to change the turbo from your td04 to the import td05 as you are intending as the ecu is mapped only for that turbo.

This upgrade would boost your power from 208bhp up to 260bhp, however after you do the swap you can no longer use regular unleaded you will have to change to super unleaded, preferably optimax or v-power.
