Whats a safe BHP for MY93 WRX
Ok im looking into maybe a remap and some mods whats a good safe BHP to run on these cars i dont want to go into internal mods (been there with the cosworth) I bought it off a lady driver and she didn't know what the mods makes where
So at the moment its running a turbo back exhaust (How can i find the make of this is there any way)
A induction kit mushroom type (also anyway of finding what this make is)
De-restricted
So what else do i need, FMIC or up-rated top i/c?, Remap? fuel pump?
Thnaks Jamie

You can get about 280 - 300bhp easily, decat it and put a decent exhaust on it and then remap it if thats all you want. Remap depends on funds, a scoobyecu/ESL chip at 1.1 bar boost will give about 280-285 bhp for £200 + the exhaust costs.
A proper ESL live mapping session will cost about £500 and will probably give you closer to 300bhp.
If you want to go slightly further then change the injectors to some yellow 440cc injectors (£100 max), and get a 3 bar map sensor from a later car (<£100).
after this you may want to consider a FMIC as the top mount is not very good past 300bhp, however these are very time consuming to fit.
You'l probably want a new fuel pump to be on the safe side too.
With a decat, 440cc's, FMIC this will need an ESL live mapping session which will probably be able to get about 1.3 bar of boost out of your TD05 and set you up for 320bhp.
If you do the work yourself you can probably get the bits for less than £1000 + the remap.
I personally would not take a pre 1996 past this, as your asking for gearbox trouble unless your lucky.
If you want more than this you'd be better off with a sti5/6 with a better gearbox which should take about 360 bhp.
I know someone is going to say torque breaks boxes and not power but torque tends to increase in line with power and what I've said is just a rough guide, there will be exceptions but these are probably safeish limits.
