Really bad flat spot-help!!!
A mate has just bought a P1 mint cond,42k on clock,standard apart from a sports cat downpipe and full system and a collins vta d/v,
He's just taken me out in it and it has the worst flat spot ever,its between 2 and 4k revs,if he floors it in second it does nothing till it gets over 4k and then its off,,there is no cel light on or any other problems,any help welcome!!

When was it last serviced, failing HT leads can give the symptom you describe, as could plugs, if he backs off from full throttle does it pick up, as that is also a symptom of poor ignition, the other possible is the MAF, and that could melt a piston, so he needs to be gentle until its sorted!

That's normal mate.
To get the most out of mine I hold it in second at just over 3k then stamp on the peddle for a right boot up the **** of acceleration.
Theres nothing below 3k so you gotta wait for the turbo to do it's thing just past the 3k mark.
1k-3k is turbo lag & spool up time.

Does it do it when he goes from part throttle in second about 3000rpm to full throttle or does it do it when he doesn't touch the throttle and then stamps on it anywhere in the rev range?
