Default problems with boost!?!?!

hi folks hows tricks?

i have an intermitent problem with my classic 1997 sti, the car normaly runs up to 1.0 kg of boost which is fine, but on occasion recently it will suddenly restrict its self to 0.5 kg of boost! It will then change back to boosting properly when ever it feels like it i havent got a clue was it up with it could it be the MAF on the way out? it is standard appart from HKS mushroom filter.
