Default can I just straight swap my ECU?

Can I just swap my ECU on a 2001 wrx bugeye or does it have to be reproggrammed or anything else?

Also if it can be straight swapped can I put a different version in or does it have to be the same (I think the one that is in is a V3 or something).

I'm having problems with the voltage going to my Boost solenoid and understand it is controlled by the ecu so I'm hoping that it wil be cured by swapping the ECU. If it can be uprated at the same time then thats a bonus!

Is it a uk spec car or an import?

The UK cars have a transponder immobiliser in the key, so you would need either the transponder or the ECU re-programming to be able to start the car. Much easier to ask for a ECU Pinout, and run fresh wires to the soleniod from the ECU. may just be a dodgy connection somewhere

Just as I thought, nothing is straight forward.

Don't suppose there is anyone who knows the which cable points are for the BCS?

After doing some searching on here it appears that a dawes device will eliminate this problem so if I don't have any look I think I'll go down that route.

Thanks for the help
