Default Spigot Bearing or Release Bearing

My 97 Turbo has developed what can only be described as the sound of a goose being strangled as I depress the clutch and the plate bites.. Theres no slipage but the pedal is getting very heavy..

Theres no noise at idle so I would think the release bearing is fine.. My question is could the flywheel spigot bearing be responsible for this I'm going to have to whip the engine out either way which isnt much of an issue but the difference between a £10 spigot bearing and a £100+ clutch kit is lol!

Cheers!
