Default Equal length

Hi,
can anyone show me the difference between a equal length tubed header and a non-equal lenght tubed headers.
i know it sounds obvious but there are so many adverts out there and they all look the same?
there does not seem to be much difference in them.

when you say show you the difference are you looking for pictures of each type or are you asking for technical information on what the performance differences are?

not true, ive got an equal length on mine, ok it does take away the burble, but mine is a uk spec which made 290 bhp with an equal manifold, 3 inch straight through with de cat, blitz induction kit and vf28 turbo! running 12 psi so there are advantages to it

i take it you can get un-equal length tubular manifolds??????????
cheers

Yes, you can. If you are looking for any less than about 340 bhp, then you dont need a tubular manifold at all. Get the standard headers ported and add a matching up-pipe and this will suffice.

If you really want tubular, then make you sure you go 3 bolt flange like gruppe s. It gives a much better seal that is less likely to leak than the 2 bolt flange earlier designs.

Having said that, my 2 bolt HKS headers are still fine with 2 gaskets in place to up-pipe.

The un-equal tubular give a rumble early on until about 3,000 rpm, but then all hell breaks loose and a noise many compare to a super bike happens up to the red line

Equal length headers make a big difference to the higher RPM performance of the car, but work best with supporting mods like up/down pipes, full porting/polishing of headers, turbo and exhaust system to improve gas flow all round.

Sound is as described above, screams like a superbike from 3000-8000 rpm. Pulls hard all the way too, doesn't run out of puff at high RPM like standard system and sustains high boost levels.

Love to know how much porting you plan of the tubular headers.......

When Jap perfomrnace mag put similar on there Project Phoenix, its fair to say it wasn't a total success...

Plus sides - some extraction effect and better flow.
downsides - more lag due to a larger exhaust volume to fill pre turbo, it also appeared to come om boost at higher rpm which may be related to temperature losses.

my apologies I meant polishing/porting of heads, not headers.
