hiya guys , im new so please be gentle with me i have tried searching but havent come up with much ..

i bought myself a WRX on a 92 K on Saturday morning and am absolutely delighted with her , but i have a small problem .

when i am driving along and go to overtake if i pop my foot 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down she holds a bar and boosts no problems whatsoever , however if i put my foot right down its as if the car is not holding the boost properly ,now its not losing boost alltogether its just flickering between 0.7 and a bar , quite violently on my boost guage , its really confusing me and i dont know what the hell im looking for to be 100% truthfull , im thinking im going to put it in the garage tommorow to get sorted i just wondered if anyone may have a clue whatsoever so i could maybe go into the garage with a theory ..

Have you checked all pipes/hoses are nice and tight?

Ecu could be in limp home mode... could be worth a reset.

Could be a tired boost solenoid.

 

is it standard? if so it shouldnt be boosting to 1 bar anyway which would indicate that it has either been chipped or something is amiss with the boost pipework

 

nope im totally lying guys , it aint boosting a bar it is actually 0.8 please forgive me as im new to all this turbo malarky !!

 

well sir, if im reading this right, it sounds like under gentle load its boosting ok, but under heavy use of the throttle its loosing boost. first port of call would be to check all the conections and hoses, sounds like one is leaking possibly when the boost is applied very suddenly ahd heavily.

 

sounds like coilpacks perhaps..
