Youve tried nearly everything, What have you tried, Fuse,Relay? there is also a connection under the rear seat that has a habit of burning out?

The fuel pump will only start (Prime actually) when the key is turned to illuminate the dash lights, It does not run continuosly unless the engine is running.

If fuel pressure is already at the correct level when you turn on the ignition you will not here the pump prime the system.
Do you have an immobilser ?? Turn the ignition on then mobilise your system, Does it prime then ??

If you refit your old pump does it work ?? You may have a faulty new one !!
But a 12volt spike type electrical tester & test the live feed further back from the fuel pump plug. To see if you have a break in the wire at the connector end
Like i said if fuel pressure is sufficient when the ignition is turned on, you will not hear the pump run/prime momentarily..

Tester like this

The relay is under the dash driver side up high. There is a bank of three there. Cant remember which is the pump though.
