boost problem?

Default boost problem?

hi when i first take my car out for a drive i can put my foot down and the boost is solid and no probs but if ive been driving for a while i put my foot down and it will rev high with not so much boost so i have to let off and put my foot down again then the boost is there could this be a clutch problem as a friend of mine said it could be i would just like a second opinion

what year is the car.i have the same problem with a 96 and this is common.it is not the clutch but a glitch in the ecu.
usually 2nd gear.you accelerate and you only get 0.5 bar then if you let off and accelerate again you get proper boost.there is a thread on this somewhere on this site.

its a my00 does it mean i need a new ecu then?

No you don't need a new ecu.
Have a quick look using the 'Search' function as boost problems are always being discussed.

ive just checked forums and it sounds like my clutch is slipping and i thought it was boost probs is there anyway i can check forsure its a clutch before i get it replaced?

Normally the clutch will start slipping in top gear (as there is more load on it).
Get the car to when the turbo kicks in (3000rpm approx) in 5th gear and accelerate hard, if the revs rise without increase in speed then the clutch is on its way out.
