If its been properly serviced I don't see any problem. 70k is lowish average miles for a 99 car. I've got an 03 car with 47k that is remapped and used daily and for track days and engine is pristine.

If its not been remapped for UK fuel and its been running here for any length of time its a fair bet that it has been detting and it would be a good idea to factor in a rebuild in the not too distant future. The first thing I'd do is get a decent remap done. Which if the engine is currently healthy will buy you more time.

a 1999 car will have ecutek anyway which has knock control. If it has had regular services and has been treated right then there is no reason why it wont last. My my92 import is just toucking 150000 some kilometres (imptorted in 2002 I have had it 2 years and done just over 35k in it in miles and the previous owner used to drive to dorset in it so plenty of mileage) mine is also power fc etc etc so not quite standard, touch wood running strong (apart from an air leak that is down to me)

On the other hand you can get brand new engines failing

Type R engines run on UK fuel are known to fail prematurely. IIRC the P1 used more or less the same engine if anything with more knock control and we all know what happens to them....
