Increasing bore of turbo pipe restrictor pill... drill or replace?
Sounds like I need to increase the bore of my restrictor pill in the boost control line (MY97 - should be 0.9 mm Ø pill apparently). I am getting overboost fuel cutouts in the region of my overboost zone ~ 3000 rpm at WOT in gears 3,4 and 5
Is it easy to drill out to 1 mm Ø ? - my drill won't even hold one that small - or is it simple enough to get a replacement already with a 1.0 mm Ø hole in it?
I have tried the local Subaru dealer who knew what I wanted but aren't sure which one is which size...
What is the easiest way round this problem?
Thanks
Mick

take the smallest amount of material out possible i.e run a very small drill through by hand.
it may look like a bit of brass dust has come out, but it's suprising how much difference it makes. A whole 0.1mm may be too much.

Thanks guys...
@ Scott - I know what you mean - a very small increase on Ø can have a huge change in flow - especially if the flow was choking behind the restrictor. I thought of even chamfering the inlet and outlet to smooth the flow - that might be enough...
I know if I overdo it it will take longer to reach optimal boost levels - but the overboosting thing is driving me crazy - Ok well not quite crazy - but I sure would like to get it fixed
Cheers
