can you hear the fuel pump priming? sounds to me to be a lack of fuel.

Check the pump connector under the rear seat hasnt burnt out.

fuel pump is under an inspection panel driverside of boot floor. Its easier to get to from inside the car with the rear seat removed(back of seat as well as base) Then check for a 12 volt feed when ignition is turned on which will dissapear. then should return when cranking. As ive already said check the connection under the rear seat? its common they burn out.

Default no fuel from pump

right then
i have identified that there is no feed to the pump its only 4v and doesnt change when cranking.found the green fuel pump relay and it has 12v over two of its terminals with the ignition on(relay not connected) and with the relay connected we get 12v over 3 of the terminals but still only 4v at the pump connection under the seat does this now sound like its an immobiliser fault cos my head is fried and i feel like throwing a match in the tank

sounds like a wire broken between the relay and the pump,Unless the ecu alters the votage at pump to slow it down. that i cant answer.

Try connecting the pump direct to a 12v feed to see if it runs. Maybe the pump is u/s. I'd still expect it to do something even with 4volts

thanks for your help
the pump runs fine with its own 12v supply and the car starts and runs just doesnt do anything with the 4v supply better get an auto electrician in i think
