Default Bad Back Fire On Acceleration

Hi All,
My mate has a Classic UK Turbo which is missing and backfiring on acceleration, its sounds like a airbomb repeater / antilag syestem. Any idea's anyone. Needs to get it sorted b4 NBO.

Other option is an intake leak or a VTA dump valve thats not closed (OK strictly the same thing).
