Question

My power steering has recently stated making a whining noise, I've never noticed it before. Car has done 60K miles (a UK turbo), does anybody know if the power steering has a life expectancy, or had a smiliar problem, and what was needed to fix it.

Cheers,

Happy Christmas

Mine did this at about 80k. It sprang a leek from somewhere. Akthough the level looked OK, when I had the engine running I could add quite a bit to it before it was eventually full. So, I suggest you get some fluid (I used AT fluid to the right specs) and try topping it up. I think you will find that this cures the winning short term, but you will need a garage to find out where the leek is.

Hope this helps...

Yep, top up the reservoir and see if it makes the whining go away. Did for my ex-MY00.
