Hi, I have a 96 import WRX.
A few days ago, the engine cut out and it refuses to start, The starter motor is turning over but plugs arent sparking. Check Engine light has never appeared. Connected the two black clips to put it in diagnostic mode, but check engine light will not appear. Tested CEL bulb - its fine, but I swapped it anyway just to make sure.
Ive also replaced the crankshaft sensor. Fuel pump is also ok.

So, no engine firing and no diagnostics.

Knackered ECU ? Any other ideas ?

 

Problem was main fuse to ECU was blown. Replaced this and ECU diagnostics fine. Reason the main fuse was blown - one of the ignition coils had melted.
