Question What service do I need to do next?!???!

Hey guys, I've got a MY00 Impreza Turbo 2000 and am trying to figure out what service I need to have done on it next. That might sound stupid, but looking through all the documents I've got.....it's all gone a bit out of order like I'll try and explain now......

Okay so starting off, the car seemed to get serviced with the right service at the right mileage, to keep it nice & easy like. But then things started to go all out of time for some reason......like the 45k mile service being done at 28k!! Wtf like?? So yeah, here is the service scedule I'm looking at (which might be old and out of date?)......

I mean just look at that. The 37.5k service has been done at 24,830 miles why would you do that?!?! Over 10k early like. So yeah I'm really confused right now. Here's the history of the car so far according to the documents I've got........

1,880 miles - 1,000 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

10,067 miles - 7,500 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

15,709 miles - 15,000 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

20,368 miles - 22,500 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

Now this is where it all started to go a bit wrong ......

22,373 miles - 30,000 mile service (oil filter, oil, screenwash, air filter, fuel filter, anti-freeze, brake fluid, gear oil, spark plugs & check other bits etc)

24,830 miles - 37,500 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

28,063 miles - This invoice doesn't state that any kind of service was carried out, just that the oil, oil filter & timing belt were done. According to the service schedule, this is meant to be done at 45k along with a load of other stuff.....so my timing belt has been done 17k earlier than suggested, and without a lot of the other stuff on the schedule such as spark plugs etc? Anyway, it continues......

29,893 miles - 7,500 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

37,307 miles - 7,500 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

So all that was done before I owned the car. When I bought the car it had 40,860 miles on the clock, and all I have done since then is.......

44,643 miles - 7,500 mile service (oil filter, oil & screenwash & check other bits etc)

But now looking at the service schedule I'm a bit confused and wondering if I should have done the big cambelt change service instead? Cuz according to the schedule, the cambelt should be first changed at 45k, and then again at 60k yeah? So that's 15k between cambelt changes. My cambelt was done 17k early (at 28k miles) and now the car is on 48,670.....so it's been 20,607 miles since my last cambelt change. So do I need to get it done ASAP cuz it's been more than 15k since the last one? Or do I need to just get it done before 60k like it says on the schedule??

Sorry for the complicated and long winded question guys, but as you can see I have got no bloody idea what the hell to do next, and I wanna look after the car properly, so your suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

If you can actually make sense of what the hell I'm talking about, that is!

Um yeah, may be because its service schedule is every 7.5k miles or 6 months, which ever is first, so your might be missing a couple.
They go by cambelt's due every 3 yrs/45k. The 60k was for newage and iirc some late old style determined by the dealer form the vin number, so looks like yours is 45k schedule.

I was wondering that yeah, cuz I dunno if you can see on the pic of my schedule or not but on the list of things to be done on the left handside, number 2 (which is the cambelt) has got "2000 MY" in brackets and then a * after it......and then the cambelt change on the schedule at 60k has also got a * by it. So doesn't that mean a 2000 MY (which is what mine is) needs a cambelt change at 60k?

Or am I being a dumbass and reading it wrong?

They changed the intervals from 45k to 60k in 2000, thou most with old style ones stay with 45k intervals. So seen as yours was done at the 45k service the next one is due at the 90k service on that schedule.

Although that was done in 2003, for piece of mind I'd get the cam belt done as a matter of course. It might be 45K miles but its also on a timed scale too which is 3 years.. so even if it's only done say 20K since but it's over 3 years I'd be tempted to get it done anyway for sanity's sake.

Some specialists offer a "Special Service" especially for cars in this situation where there is a bit of grey area surrounding the servicing. Basically it's a full on service that covers pretty much everything and allows you to get back on track with the normal regular service intervals. They aren't cheap.. but in the long run are probably worth it.

Check out Revolution Performance Motorstore and follow the links to servicing as an example.

Alternatively have a look here as to what's entailed for each servicing..
Subaru Services at Graham Goode Racing

The C+D servicing is a bit like the "Specials" it covers literally everything and once done you can pretty much "reset" your schedule and start from scratch.

Cheers for your replies guys, and yeah I think I'm gonna get it done this time around just for peace of mind y'know? So the next question is (lol).....if I get it done now, when do I need to get it done again after? I understand it as the cambelt change I'm about to do now is in effect the 60k one (even tho my car is only on 48k)......and the next one on the schedule is at 90k, so I need to do it 30k miles after this one now.......so say 78k yeah?

If you get a special service or C+D service done you're effectively back to square one.. so just follow the service schedule set out. In your case for the cambelt it'll be 60K or 3 years later (whichever is the soonest) I guess.

I agree with Swampster - get the C&D done then start afresh, knowing full well you have all bases covered. I did this recently then just restarted the service schedule. I do really low miles - approx 4k per year, so my schedule will be well out of line fairly quickly. Not sure where you are based, but can really recommend Len at Subary4you Subaru4you - an alternative to main dealers, top bloke and he has a priced servicing schedule on his site to give you an idea.
