Default Advice please

I've just bought a 2004 scooby WR1 no. 198, and would like to know what tuneing I could do through Ecu software with my standard turbo.

WR1's already had an enhanced Prodrive map which was slightly better than the map supplied over the counter with the PPP fitted to STi's. There is a little more available usually as the Prodrive map is generic with heavy safety tollerances, but you won't get massive gains without some extra mechanical products too.

So i'll have to change the ECU, the exhaust and go for a front mount, whats the best ECU for these? Also are the turbos different on the WR1 or they the same as STI but max out?

A bit extreme as a first step. The ECU can be remapped but it's probably only worth doing when you have given enough reason to. STi's have no UP cat and should have a Prodrive sports cat in the DP. The centre cat is removed as part of the PPP so the only bit which will show any strong benefit would be the DP decat, leaving you with problems come MOT time.

My own opinion is that the best way to make a Scoob faster is to improve the chassis and handling. Click to view my Scoob, even though only a humble 265PS WRX PPP it could teach mod'd STis a thing or two on a challenging road. With excess power you sometimes find the balance overwhelmed and the driver having to make lots of correction or hold off to try and keep control. In my car I could utilise all the power all the time on any surface and in any weather condition, blitzing cars even with near 400bhp on occasions.

You pays your money....

An RCM induction kit and complete exhaust from turbo back , RCM or Lateral Performance headers and an Ecutek remap should see you past the 350hp and 340lbft of torque mark ..
