Default uk turbo 2000 clutch

hi there, i am after a bit of advice concerning my w reg uk turbo 2000.

i am currently running 303 bhp with vf 35, bigger top mount intercooler, warlbro fuel pump and scooby clinic fuel regulator. i can't fault the set up, and i am hoping to try some 1/4 mile sprints this summer. I am just wondering if i should uprate the clutch and possibly flywheel? Or is my clutch up for the job? i don't want to cut corners price wise if i have to, but on the other hand don't want to to overspend. any suggestions?

thanx Steve

All Depends on how many miles the clutch has done already, standard clutch will do loads of launches with 300 BHP. You should be able to tell if it's on it's way out, deffinately put an uprated one in though when you change it.

car has done 52000 miles on the original clutch, was running 265 bhp for a while before i added the vf 35. suppose its a catch 22 for me, do i do it now and add a lightened fly wheel as i am told this would help a bit. or do i wait for the clutch to go? any idea what clutch to go for (best value for money etc)? and is it a 230mm plate?

thanx

My UK 97 clutch lasted ok for 75k on approx 290bhp. Immediately after upping the power over 320/300 the clutch pretty much gave way.

I upgraded to the AP Organic which cost £650.00 supplied and fitted including release bearing. Must say it was a bloody joy to drive and I wish I'd have added this a lot sooner. Judder went completely............

So good I'm considering sticking one in my Newage.

Exedy do a cheaper alternative which is still very good. API can help you out with a good price

brilliant thanks for the advice, have you opted for a lighter fly wheel at all? i am no mechanic but expect it would be better to change the flywheel at the same time as the clutch?

don't go to light with the flywheel

ring Mark at lateral performance for an organic clutch

Stay away from the AP racing ones. I ripped two centres out of mine. Running circa 360bhp.

Go for the 5.4kg Fidanza flywheel and an Exedy Uprated organic. I have this combo and its done 18,000 hard miles like this without any problems.
