Buying a TD05-what to look out for
Have an 02 wagon and am looking to buy a TD05 to upgrade from my TD04.Any help would be appreciated ...(1)Am i right in thinking that the classic had a TD05 but that this was a front entry that wont fit a newage(bugeye).Therefore,(2)will i have to source a turbo from a newage sti(and if so,will all new age td05's fit as a bolt on upgrade).Also,(3)whattype of TD05 will i be looking at from the different models-ie 16g/20g
Also,(4)will pink injectors from any new age sti fit my car???
Have tried a S/N search by the way,but most Q's seem to be aimed at classic owner!
Thanks a lot,in anticipation:-Harvey notworthy

I have no real experience of looking at Turbos, but the most obvious would be end play in the shaft, and side to side movement of the shaft. I would also look at the turbines for signs of pitting or damage and the overall condition of the turbo, if possible check the cars mileage it comes from.
I don't know if a Mitsubishi Turbo would fit, there seem to be a few on Ebay, maybe someone else with more experience on here can help.

You may find that there are other turbo's which give you a better all round driving experience, depending how you use your car.
For a daily driver the TD04 Hybrid is supposed to be a good upgrade to the standard TD04, retaining the low spoolup but giving stronger boost. Not as strong as the TD05's but like I say - depends how you use your as to whether the low spool is important for what you want to achieve.
Don't forget you will need to remap regardless of what you swap to
Quite an interesting read
