coil pack probs on classic!
Hi guys just wondering if anyone out there has any ideas on this prob. 1 of my coilpacks was completly fecked, i.e when i took the rubber boot off the end of it it disintegrated! Couldnt afford a full new set at the mo, so just boght the one coil pack second hand too tide me over till I had the coin for new ones. New coil pack seemed in mint condition on inspection of it, but when i fitted it to the car its misfiring worse than before. I also noticed that when on idle, every time it misfires there is a ticking noise from behind the dash(sounds like a relay clicking on and off). Im thinking the replacment coil pack is fooked!? Any other ideas? Cheers

Quite common for them to go.
If ones gone chances are the rest are either gone or on there way out.
The ticking may well be spark arcing out as it can be quite audible if the tips are cracked and the spark charge is shorting.

Just because there not cracked does not imply they are OK.
I have an email from a guy that had miss-fire problems. Checked his coils and they looked fine, but he replaced them anyway. He was amazed at the difference.
Unfortunatley it's one of those things...you don't know till you try. But if their cracked, their certainly worth changing.
