Default Ported Manifold or Tubular Stainless

hi all, has anyone got any before and after experiances

i've brought a stainless job but before i fit it is there much performance loss or slower power delivery, or i've been told a stronger longer lasting power band???

it's a 96 classic td05
H&s downpipe
hks 3" hipower exhaust
hks induction kit
standard top mount but considering front mount would this create a lot of lag with tubular manifold?

and would remap repair any losses? anyone got any graphs?? with manifold and front mount?
cheers guys

I'm biased

check out this link

unless your going to be running massive horsepower then I do truely think that the standard ones are a lot better - once they've been sorted.

I haven't got any experience with expensive aftermarket manifolds but I bought cheap ones off fleabay ages ago......if anything I lost power and then they cracked after 7 months.

Then ported my standard ones and uppipe.......I was suprised at the difference.

It's all down to personal preferance I suppose.

i think they stainless headers breath better, i have a .1bar increase in boost pressure, and is more responsive in upper revs, but also a 500 rpm spoolup loss(although not wrapped yet)

But, what would be the result if i fitted the same venturi style piece in the up pipe as the standard one has,

does this accelerate and focus gas flow into the turbine giving an earlier spoolup??

Did this back to back.

The ported stock cast headers give more low/mid range torque, loose a little at the top.
Decent headers (ie Gruppe S) give great top but will fall a little at the low end. They are lighter also!

In the general scheme of things the ported headers are good, cheap and reliable with flat gasket faces all the time!

Difficult job to do unless you have the right hand grinder and cutters.

u will also lose some of the sound (burble) on your car after fitting the stainless manifold even if they r unequal ones

your losing spool up just because of the large diameter uppipe (I'm guessing it is uprated) - but will flow better top end.

I port the standard uppipe so that it does accelerate the gases.

If the uppipe is uprated then did you check to see if it matched the turbo (or has this been ported to match)
