td05, markings on my mates were on the front housing at the bottom (absolute nightmare trying to find them).

Not sure, depends on your spec, but on a 2.5 you'll probably want something bigger!

After a bit on looking about on the net including andy forrest performance web site it looks like the standard td05 turbo should be good for 340 to 350 bhp but what boost pressure would be safe for the unit ?
Please correct me if I am wrong as I can only go of what I car read on the net and on here

you don't need to change the turbo yet but to get the most out of the engine you will need to upgrade try and speak to Andy F see what he suggest.

Well from a bit of study of a compressor map for it, 1.2 to 1.4 bar looks like a safe working range on a 2.0 litre. It'll actually run up to 1.8 bar I think, but above 1.4 bar it's not really making any worthwhile power there. On a 2.5 litre I think you'd find it wouldn't be big enough to work well without 'choking' - running out of puff in other words. But I may be wrong. Others have plenty of practical experience on these - I'm just looking at the numbers.

I'm running a TD05 on a 2.5 litre, approx 330 of each.

The same car when a 2.0 was boosting to 1.4 bar and naturally tailing to 1.2.

Now on the the 2.5 its boosting to 1.2 and tailing back to 1.0 IIRC, due to the 25% extra capacity.

On the remap my IDC's went up from 90% on the 2.0 to 95% on the 2.5.

Power wise I don't think its much different from the 2.0 (its near the top of what the TD05 can do anyway) but it spools up quicker and has more torque on the 2.5

Where are the markings to show it's a TD05 as I cant see on my 93 WRX import?

The chances are it is a TD05 tho right?

From looking on the net and on here I believe the 93 to 96 wrx imports came with td05 16g as standard but I may be wrong

As long as it isn't a wagon, and the turbo hasn't been swapped, then its a TD05

I have an FE TD05-16G on my 2.5 conversion. With Gruppe-s headers, 440cc injectors at a raised fuel pressure and running 1.45 bar boost my car made 341 bhp at 5550 rpm and 357lbs/ft torque at around 4500 rpm, torque curve was quite flat between 3000 and 4500 rpm then starts to drop of.
