Default 05 STi using water?

My 05 STi is using a bit of water - about 1cm every 1,000miles.

anyone elses do this?

does this amount seem unusual?

the dealer has replaced radiator & pressure cap, had the system pressure tested, even replaced the turbo (sometimes a hairline crack can open up when hot).

next step is to strip the heads and get them crack tested, apparently - Im a bit peeved about the need to take my factory supplied engine apart to be honest, but Subaru wont budge from this, as they insist the work needs to be done to find out whats wrong.

any thoughts??

How low does it get, some cars sit below the 'normal' marking, but will happily sit at that level for ever.
My 03sti sits between the min and max when cold (the manual says it should be on max when cold) but it sits there happily and has done for 8k miles.
I would see how low it gets before it stabilises, as long as it does not go below min of course.

drops about 1cm (maybe a bit less) every 1,000miles.

doesnt stay still - used to when I first got it, but has been going down/investigated for about a year now.

My 03STi loses a little, probably about the same as your 1cm/1000m. Done 46k miles with remap and track days with no problems. I've always put it down to a bit of evaporation from the expansion tank when hot or possibly a minor weepy somewhere but nothing serious. I'd think that if there was a crack somewhere you'd lose a lot more and/or find evidence of oil in the water. What about the water pump as its well hidden you might not be able to see the leak.
