Newbie MD321T Tubby Questions
Currently running a TD05 20G on a forged 2.0L and supporting mods fuel pump e.t.c. making 392hp at 1.5bar, although does make a bit more on the road.
Thinking of a future upgrade to an MD321T, my questions are:
1. Would this be a straight swap installation i.e. down pipe etc.
2. What other physical parts would be required.
3. Are the standard size fuel lines and return enough to support the MD.
4. What's the boost limit on the MD.
5. What's the usual power results on a 2.0L with the MD321T at what boost levels, what's the typical spool characteristics on the 2.0L
6. Can anyone with one fitted to 2.0L confirm or not any probs with boost creep or surge issues
Just want to be sure than when I do take the plunge that I'm doing the right thing.
Thanks in advance for your help or suggestions

Terry got over 450 Bhp and I think he is running a 1.8 bar midrange.

I race against someonewith oneof these on a forged 2 litre and it is powerful to say the least over my 20g.
At a guess 440 x 400 / 420/380 on Vmax + boost.
He also says the turbo comes in fast but he was used to the stock Sti RA turbo before..

I think you'll love one of these turbos mate
Compared to a 20G you would get similar spool I believe - I get 1 bar at 3200rpm in 5th gear and full boost of 1.95 bar by about 3800/3900 rpm. Once it spools it is awesome - the shove in the back never ends. The turbo is capable of running well over 2 bar due to it's Garrett core, but 1.9/ 2 bar is ideal on a built 2 litre Plus it still pulls 1.9 bar at 7500rpm
Installation wise, it is fairly straight forward. You will need the bigger 76mm samco intake pipe, and this is difficult to fit if you have the standard fuel rails - so I would suggest going down the parallel fuel rail route if you haven't already. Would be adviseable at this level anyhow.
You would need to grind a lug off the gearbox casing to get it to fit though - which asn't too hard. I think the standard water hose may not be long enough, so fit a new pipe to the correct length.
Go for it mate - you will not be disappointed. Mine last made 457bhp and 415lbft but having changed to a K&N cone filter and fabricating a 100mm cold air feed directly to it from the driving light cover, I think it could be a good 465bhp now
Check out the video for what to expect

Graham - I presume this is Rob you are referring to. Doesn't he have the H model? If so then it is one down from the T.
