Default MY05 STi PPP Flat Spot 6500rpm!

All,

Hi have a very small flat spot when rev counter is passing 6500rpm, only really noticeable in 4,5th

...boost doesn't falter, needle is rock solid.

...I am not 100% sure but it may have started after a fill up of Vpower from Woodall Services...the pump was not happy.

There is no issue anywhere else in the rev range.
... i think a blocked injector etc would be more noticable.

The car is warrantied, but I don't think the dealer would know what to do??

Any ideas from our expert engine guys...

May have it on the rollers to do the diagnostics yet??

Sounds like it's picked up some negative knock correction is response to detonation at that engine speed. Lots of potential causes but the favourite is fuel starvation (surge) closely followed by poor fuel quality. It would normally learn back up but if it doesn't an ECU reset will clear it out.

Talking of fuel surge...

I have heard a few horror stories of fuel pumps not being changed during PPP upgrades... what is the easiest way to check??

...does it involve pump out inspection or can you spot from fuel pressures from OBDII?

Thanks

don't think you can unless you drop the battery neg off for a while or use a psi3 or select monitor...

YEah cheers... I am getting the OBDII connection cable from the US and the software on the net is free.

It will probably cheaper than paying the dealer to reset the ECU.
