i have a my04 wrx that has developed a fooking annoying noise on the front end,it sounds more like a tapping noise than a knocking i do not think it is suspension related as i have checked it all.there is no play in any bushes or links.
it seems to occur when going over slightly uneven roads aswell as bumps etc,the noise appears to be coming from around the bulkhead rather than suspension.

any advice/help appreciated

 

Are you sure it is not a strut top bearing knocking, it does'nt take much movement to produce a tap/ knock over uneven roads, may even be slightly loose strut bolts on the strut turret.

 

i checked all bolts are tight on suspension,so i think i will drop struts off to visually check the top of them
