On the VIN plate it states EJ20GNW1HA and on the engine itself it states EJ20BUB 58080 M

Can anybody help me figure out what engine this is?

That sounds strange, it's a LHD model?

Yes I saw that. That just means that some guy in Sweeden has the same engine in his GC8 ;-)

 

mate i have found a vin checker but it is telling me the vin number has to be 17 digits long

 

Going by that it just looks like a normal 2 ltr turbo engine same as the uk car of 1995, therefore running a td05 90 degree turbo and producing 208bhp.

That could be because it the VIN for the chassie, this is only for the engine. Could you mail me a link?

2 Bolt Coil Packs found on the Jap Spec. Legacy.

 

On the vin plate there should be a GC8 serial number ie my 1995 car is GC8C47D.

Post that up and I may be able to help you.

Hi,

G = Impreza.

F = Sports wagon.

8 = 2 Litre turbo.

B = MY 1994.

L = ? Not listed for any year, (Door code, ie 2 door, 4 door)

8 = WRX.

D = Five speed manual.

Main differences between the Legacy and Impreza engines are, different turbo charger and intercooler, Lagacy has a water to air intercooler, hydraulic lash adjusters.
