Default Load of smoke!..Type-R Engine rebuild or new engine?: recommendations & price guide?

Hi

I've got a Type-R... It gave out loads of smoke and there's oil splatted everywhere just around the turbo bit. I never thrash it anywhere, and I'm pretty much never go over 4k...... But I felt like testing it out and it went bang!

Bearing in mind it's pretty clean in and out (completely standard too), and I always run BP ult with Octane Booster (as I don't have a shell garage at all in my town or nearby!!!). Previous owner before imported ran Shell Power.

I'm assuming that I need an engine rebuild? Or what could the possibilities be?

Could anyone give me a price guide around the East Mids area?

Perhaps I should convert(?)/swap(?) it to the 2.5 engine? Please advise! £?

Thanks

Check the oil feeds to the turbo before you go rebuilding it. How low did the oil get and how quickly did you stop ?

Well I'll ring around tomorrow morning.

I'm heart broken. And I've searched through the forums and there was a particular post about losing faith with your car after it's blown and had a rebuild... I'm dreading the same feeling

What's the number for this David guy?

I've heard of TSL and Tracktive... I've taken my old car to tracktive but they ended up not being very helpful and cost me loads of dosh for a 'health check'.

I'm gearing towards Scoobyclinic?... but whoever is best at these engine rebuilds will be good!?

Does anyone know the price for a rebuild as well??? Or does it depend on the parts that gone bust or something!?

There's no compression btw.
If you turn the ignition it nearly starts but then fails and fails.........

(and no I wasn't near Stratford)

sorry to here about youre engine matey but try not to get to down hearted. ive heard good and bad things about scooby clinic . some say they tell you it needs rebuilding when it actually does not!! but then again there probley the biggist subaru specialist in the mids! tsl are very expensive but the work they do is top notch. bespoke engine rebuilds . 2.5 conversions etc... as for tracktive when i go there i deal with carnetix who are very freindley and helpful but they usually sort out minor problems.
depending on what kind of build you need or indeed want a basic rebuild youre looking around £1800 but with forged pistons etc could go up to around £5000.

hope you get it sorted dude c.

I've never used their services but API seem to get a very good rep : they're not local, in Warwickshire but maybe worth a phone call at least.

If i was you i`d try David first @ API, he`ll HONESTLY give you no crap, he`ll tell you what`s needed and not what`s needed to fill his pockets, they`re a good bunch, it`s your choice but phone them and try the others also.

........Pete.
