Went for a drive in my 94 wrx over the weekend and an evo 5 had a go at me, as i came off the round about in 3rd and floored it through the gears along the motorway i got to 120mph in 5th and (i think) the boost kept dropping off then building up again making the car pull back then go, then pull back again(and so on), also i noticed the revs done the same, felt similar to when you've hit redline and ur bouncing off the limiter. As it was doing this i noticed it was around 5500 - 6000 revs and it only happens when trying to get top end speed in 5th. Needless to say the evo then proceeded past me with a young looking chav flipping me the bird whilst pulling his best impression of Sloth from the Goonies. Any thoughts what this could be?

 

Sounds like your hitting the japanese 112 ish mph limiter with it being a WRX. Not 100% sure on this but sounds about right to me anyone else back this up ?

 

thanks for the reply but i dont think its restriced as i was doing around 120mph and wasnt at redline, been reading alot of threads and sounds like something called fuel cut but i have'nt a clue what this is......can anyone help?? any ideas about my problem? or can tell me what fuel cut is? anymore input will be much appreciated!

 

also when i said it was 'like' bouncing off the limiter it was slower than that like a loss of power and boost then a build up of both just to lose it again.

 

Mine was hitting speed limiter at 119, speedo error.

 

does sound like a speedo error, 10% error at 112 mph would be 122mph so consistent with that
