Wheel bearings or diff
Developed a drone from the rear of my MY99 Type R. Last time this happened about 6 months back it was rear wheel bearings, but this time the noise is similiar but not as intrusive. Seems worse at between 30 and 50mph and then lessens in intensity. Increase with acceleration, but nowhere near as loud as when the wheel bearing needed a change.
However I living under the treat of a new gearbox/ diff depending on who you talk to and before i take it to get properly diagnosed, is there anything that can differentiate the two noises. The bearings could only be described as an aeroplane taking off, drowning out the firestorm exhaust with ease, and starting at about 10mph. As I said this is nowhere near as loud, but still noticeable all the same as is more background drone than noise.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
