oil leaking help please!
Was just pulling up my drive this evening when I noticed a big patch of oil on the floor, which has dripped from directly underneath the engine
i couldnt tell what is causing it (was getting dark).
I've read other posts here describing symptoms such as the smell of oil burning, or dripping from the exhaust, I've not noticed neither.
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? plus, is it safe to drive in this state? ie to a garage?
cheers.

does ur car have an undertray?
if so remove it and look where is its coming from, might be a loose filter.
if its leaving a big patch then id not drive it far, make sure oil level is nice and full etc.

cant jack the car up until tommorow, as lent the jack the my brother last week bad timing ay
But got underneath, my mate thinks it might be the sump leaking.
Checked the oil, and it is full, so not sure what it is.
Left an old shirt under the car last night, when I checked it this afternoon, there was a patch of oil, probably about same diameter of a tennis ball (just to give an indication of leakage).

rocker cover gaskets a possibility, but not sure how bad they would have to be to allow that amount of oil to leak out overnight.
get i checked asap, and dont drive it anymore than you have to.

mine use to leave a puddle of oil on the floor after a few hours and the hole car underneith was covered in oil to ! crankshaft oil seal common problem as is rocker cover gaskets , but they tent to drip onto the exhaust and cause a burning smell ! you might be lucky and just have a loose oil filter but dont drive it and get it checked

Just got it checked at Subaru today, yep, Snap-on is bang on! Was the crankshaft oil seal, apparently leakd behind timing belt. Mechanic said it be wise to replace belt due to possible contamination.
Quoted me £300***!!!!
Couldnt fix it, as part not in but mechanic said it was safe to drive as normal? is this correct?
Anyways, thanks for your reply people was helpful
