Default Whats needed to put a TD05 18g on a pre 1996 car?

I'm weighing up all of the options for what to do with my car next as I'm after more power - before I go the full hog and build a new 2.5 up, I thought I'd see what I can get out of my current 1993 WRX to get used to a bit more power. This drew me to Andy F's website and the possibility of a TD05 18g.

Whats needed to put an 18g onto a 1993 WRX - my current turbo is 90 degree entry and the 18g is front entry. What does this practically mean for installing it in the car?

My gearbox is pretty much dust at the moment so I'll be looking for a decent sti box to pop in which should, touch wood, handle the extra power/torque.

Also what power can I expect from this with FMIC, bigger injectors, gruppe-S headers, 3" full decat exhaust, uprated fuel pump? Would I need anything else before a remap to make sensible use of this turbo?

My current TD05 can probably make about 320bhp with enough boost so I'd be hoping for over 350 to make this a worthwhile upgrade.

What size injectors would be recommended for this turbo?

thanks

I have one of these fitted to my 93 wrx.

You will need a 2x 90 degree samco hoses to make this work. One comes from the turbo then joins onto another which connects to the maf.

So am I right in thinking with this method no manifold spacers are required?

I've found an 18g from a mitsubishi eclipse, is there any way of making this fit an impreza? - currently have a standard 90 degree entry TD05 that I can canabalise but dont want to have to rebalance - I'll buy new rather than that
Heres a picture of it:

What supporting mods are you running with this turbo, and what kind of boost/power are you making. Is your engine coping well with the larger turbo?

Car was rolling roaded at 330/305. I've since changed the headers to a set of harvey's ported ones plus up pipe, lightended flywheel, pulleys etc. A few other things like manifold spacers, etc. The car feels a lot quicker now with these things added, just waiting to get it mapped.

Mods at the time were:

Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Nismo 550cc Injectors
Custom Exhaust From Turbo Back Titanium Back Box
XS Power Stainless Headers & Up Pipe
Hybrid Front Mount Intercooler
Blitz Induction Kit
TD05 18g With Samco 90 degree hose
Apexi Power FC
Apexi AVCR
Datalogit Kit
4 Coil packs
4 NGK PFR7B Plugs
SX Fuel Regulator
Helix Catch Can

What you have there is not a direct fit for a Subaru.
The compressor outlet on a Subaru takes a round rubber or silicon pipe joiner.
The exhaust entry from the O/E up-pipe is a three bolt flange.

Yes, Andy F is certainly the best place in the UK - I had a quick look on nasioc and found a GB going on for 18g's for $600 odd, very nice price indeed although it seems they are having trouble getting them at the moment. One to keep an eye on i think.

Not sure. Mine are samcos. Andy will tell you what diameter you'll need.

if you've got a fmic on your car you may need to cut the left hand intercooler pipe as the turbo is quite a bit bigger than the standard 16g

cheers

60mm 90 degree Samco bends. Approx £18 each from Demon Tweeks and others. Beware of cheaper offers as they can have thinner wall silicone and it sucks flat during full boost !
Same goes for cheap turbos btw, I'd be interested to know if you receive any unsolicited PMs on this particular topic !
