Default Easiest way to disassemble front end?

Decided to break my scoob myself. Never done anything like this before, so uncharted waters.

A mechanic friend of mine suggested jacking up on the front subframe, unbolting the subframe from the body, and lifting the body up, leaving engine, box, suspension and subframe below in one piece.

He then suggests "sliding out" the subframe and everything attached to work on it separately. He has a ramp for this though and I'm going to be using axle stands and an engine crane. I can't work out how I'd move the subframe once it has been released from the body. I thought about lowering it onto a pallet and then moving it with a pallet truck but I can't figure out how to get that to work given that axle stands will be in the way.

Anyone done this before and care to offer advice to a thickie?

Given the kit you've got access to, I'd say the easiest way would be to get all the ancillaries off the engine, unbolt it from the gearbox and lift it out of the car with the crane.

Then get the car up on the axle stands and drop the subframe out from under the car.

I would advise removing the suspension struts independently too, as their top mounts are attached to the car body, not the subframe.

Thanks, that's what I'd been thinking - otherwise have to lift the body up quite high to get the engine out underneath.
