Default wheel alignment on new cars

Wondering if Subaru has improved . . . recently got my second Scoob (06 STI) after an interval of a few years. Looking for experiences of people who've had new/newish cars wheel alignment checked - back when I bought my MY00 turbo its wheels were splayed in all directions, as appeared to be normal according to Scoobynet at the time. Getting the Prodrive settings made a world of difference.

What's the situation now, is wheel alignment generally better? Tried searching but didn't answer my question! What's best option now, factory alignment settings or prodrive (found them on a search)?

Believe it or not, wheel alignment is part of the pre-delivery check! and of course all dealers do it - yeah right!
