Default Intercooler upgrade ?

Hi there people , I need some advice about intercoolers , I have a 96 sti import which has just had a full service , I now want to de-limit / convert to mph this looks straight forward and easy to do, what I am worried about is over heating the engine at high speeds (120+) due to the change in air flow over the bonnet into the scoop (warnings given to me from powerstation and others). Has anyone overcome this problem by just changing the scoop only,IE bigger if so where did you get it from.
Cheers

bigger scoop and an air splitter should help, bigger intercooler too or a front mount would solve the problem.

my sti8 scoop was from dr motorsport.. its nice

A splitter goes inside the scoop and diverts half the incoming air to the front half of the IC face. It attaches to the scoop undertray. You can also get a tilt kit, which just tilts it a little more upright to get a better flow through the IC fins.

I personally did a lot of testing of this supposed airflow problem at high speed and my conclusion is that it's bull****. The faster you go, the better the TMIC keeps charge temps down, although it's never that good at it, at any speed. The faster you go the greater the pressure differential between top and bottom of the intercooler, therefore airflow is greater.
