ANYONE GOT A NEWAGE WITH BACK BOX & BOV FITTED
Want to buy a new back box for my new 2002 WRX - also interested in fitting a new BOV.
Quick few questions..
If I just fitted a back box would I need this mapped?
If I fitted a BOV as well would I need this mapped in? I have read a few posts where people say that fitting a BOV plays with the ECU which causes problem - would a map sort this though?
Cheers

No you don't need it mapped for a back box, doesn't make that much difference on its own and the newage ecu can compensate for any slight differences anyway.
No you don't need a remap for a VTA dump valve (or BOV). Easy enough to change and more importantly to change back to standard if it gives you any problems. My car idled fine with a HKS SSQV, but was nowhere near as smooth in general driving, esp between gear changes. I swapped back to original recirc. Just give it a try if you want.

I have a Prodrive b/b and a Baileys BOV fitted. The car ran well unmapped. I did get it mapped, but only to take advantage of partial decat, not for the BOV & bb. Ran well before (although much quicker after !).
Having said that, I would have never fitted a BOV myself - it was on the car when I bought it. May return to std recirc at some point ! At the mo it's "chavtastic" !

Have a read here, good source of info about BOVs esp post #19 from a respected tuner/mapper.

I don't know if the 'do damage' as such, and I've never heard any being directly contributed to any failures. Mine just wasn't as smooth on more 'aggressive' gear changes. I do like the 'chavtastic' sound tho - just have to listen to other ppls now.
