hi, i've got a 1994 wrx and i'm looking for the lambda sensor and i cant find it! It's not on the manifold and its not on the down pipe! the car runs sweet but i dont think its got 1! surley it has to have 1?

Can any1 help?

 

yep this car doesn't seem to have a lambda??????

headers haven't even got a hole for a lambda???

the car is running a scoobyecu so has this got something to do with it?

running off fuel settings on chip???????

Its not in the manifold or downpipe on a my94wrx its in the collector box after the manifold before the up pipe , if you look you can see the wires coming out of the heat shield on the collector box drivers side under car .

it should be in the manifold - but hidden, look at the wires coming out of manifold, next to uppipe...

try using a standard ecu and see if it throws a cell for the lambada. As others have said as standard it should be on the drivers side headers quick look under will tell you if it is there as they stick out like a sore thumb. Other possible places are top of downpipe (assuming running a decat) or possibly at the bottom of the downpipe (although this is not an ideal location)

If the car runs fine, why are you worried? You could always contact I think its ScottT on here as he does the scooby ecu, he could possibly tell you if thats controlling everything

 

Your car is fitted with "bulbous" headers as O/E. These have a hole in the collector which takes the lambda sensor as stated above. The collector is the part of the header system on the drivers side that is fed from the cross pipe and the drivers side cylinder head bank and the outlet is to the up-pipe.

If you e-mail me per profile, I will send you a photograph so you know where to look. At present you probably have a heat shield in position which is making it difficult to find.

 

no these headers haven't got a lambda hole! I was there when craig heat wrapped them (shields off) - they are a standard cast scooby manifold though.....just don't know what off?

and there definately isn't a lambda/sensor anywhere in the system (its all been off)

spoke to a guy at scoobyecu and they said it should have a lambda!

 

are there any loose wires though in the locations mentioned above taped up or anything?

Your probably running without Lambda which means it will be running the base fuel map without any Lambda input.
The ECU probably won't flag a Code 32 Lambda fault unless it does the diagnostics routine, which can be found here..... Frequently Asked Questions

 

yeah the connection plug is there! by the MAF sensor but nothings plugged into it!

 

As long as the map isn't too far away from stock (which most are not at idle/cruise) then the fuel map will be fine. although I doubt it will be fuelling well enough to get through an MOT

 

If you have no hole for the lambda in the collector then you must be running the slimmer cast headers as fitted M/Y 97-00 with no lambda sensor hole. The same headers are fitted 01-06 M/Ys but they have reverted to alambda sensor hole.

If someone e-mails me I can send pictures of all three types to be posted on here for future reference.

 

That sounds like the cat on fire sensor. Is it white?
