knocking noise

Default knocking noise

2005 sti
i have a knocking noise from what seems to be at the back of the car near side, posible under car over certain bumps pretty sure its not the boot thought it might of been back box but checked that out seems ok. ???

Rear shock knackered I think. Usual shock failure - see suspension forum for more details.

Had this myself - drove me nuts for about a week before a mate pointed out the problem
Opportunity to change the suspension?!

the car has only done 6000 miles had the knock from new cant be knackered already ??

Real long shot but have you tried a trip with the spare wheel, tools, anyhting else you may have in there out of the boot.
My Dad thought my exhaust was dropping off a few weeks ago when he drove the car - turned out to be coke can that had fallen out of my bag and (god knows how) worked its way into the wheel well
