Default Stand alone ECU options

I'm considering getting a stand alone ECU. Just wanted to hear opinions/costs on them.

What are the benefits? (Apart from ALS )

Heard you can have cold start & cutting out problems, which stopped me getting one in the first place.

How much is GEMS / Motec?
(Heard the Hydra is about £1800 and the Autronic about £1400)

Who stocks them?

Also, if i got one, could i then sell the original ECU? (As it has an ECUTek license).

ecu remapping is pretty cheap now so if you were to buy a standalone ecu it would be better to keep hold of your own ecu as there will be greater resale value in an aftermarket ecu when you come to sell your car

Would recommend that you also speak to Steve Simpson about the Simtek ecu , excellent features (Antilag , map switching , launch control , gear based boost control) and it will cost much less than the competition....

We have run a development board on our 06 Spec C and are currently finalising the circuit board layout.Expect first production unit to be run on Scooby Manias latest project car within the next 4 weeks - complete with 8 injector drives....

Unit will be compatible with all new age cars but not DBW just yet.
