Default STI heads on forged EJ20 block

Hi guys,
would a forged bottomend with STI V5/6 heads be any good?
I have an engine from a MY99 classic with uprated internals and thinking of using STI heads incl. cams on it.
I mechanic tried the STI heads already on his 2.0l and said, that it is no more power to expect from this change...
But the cams are "sharper" and also the valvetrain seems to be better on STI V5/6 heads, isnīt it?!?
Please let me know!
Greets

if you have different heads etc then to take full advantage of them you would need an ecu to match them (rev limits, fuelling for intake etc) so on their own they possibly wouldnt gain you anything.

Markus where did you get the engine from?

I am after a closed deck block for my MY00 that I can rebuild but I doubt that I will find one in Germany.

And of course I have got a programmable ecu to map for the heads, so with this I can take advantage of the other camprofile the STI V5 heads have?!

@Wurzel:

Unfortunatly I do not have a closed deck block, just a normal WRX MY99 shortblock with uprated internals and WRX heads.
Maybe you can get a closed deck block from a member here?!
I will take a look around too, send me a mail to mks22@gmx.at with the spec you are after.

I have read that the 'best' heads are Sti V3 as the cams are the 'best'
Many use the V5 heads and I'm sure they are better than non Sti heads.
Good place to ask this question is on 22B.
Graham

ps:
Mark at Lateral has a row of CDB and so has API Engines.

Thanks for the advice, will ask the guys there too!
Problem with the STI V3 heads, is that I would have to change many other things to make it fit a MY99/00 engine!

I think one of many things that have to be changed will be the fuelrails...right?!

V5 STi heads are a direct replacement for MY99 Euro heads. No other external changes are needed.
