best turbo for 450bhp?
Simple Api have just rebuilt my 2.5 engine and 6 speed gearbox using forged pistons, steel rods etc.At the moment it has a TD05/06 20G doing about 380 bhp what is the best turbo to reach a comfortable 450/450 .Obviously I want quick spool up and the boost to hold steady up to my 7200 rev limit.
cheers

Having driven a newage, like yours, with a 2.5, and a TD06 49lb i thought it was very impressive. That was untill said owner of the car decided he was fitting a MD321T.
How can i put this, THEY ARE LEAGUES APART!
The 321T hits you so hard, its unbelievable. The torque availability is phenominal compared to the TD06 49, and that is coming from experience of both turbos on the same car and engine, with the same mapper, mapped to the same criteria.

Get a TD06 49 to do that, and i will be impressed.

Is the MD321T a twisted or 'regular' installation, and does it have an external waste gate?
from my novice veiwpoint, that graph looks like a very drivable delivery rather than a crude boost build crashing into action.
Am I right?
Finally, is the turbo best optimised for a 2.0 or 2.35 or 2.5? (in theory at least.)
Graham (with a 20g boat anchor?)

I have an MD321T on my 2.5 and it saw 452/477 at the last mapping session. Got to be the one to go for with those sort of figures.

TerryB - 2 litre - 450bhp/420lbft at 1.8bar iirc
Paul Crafts - 2.35 - 460bhp/515lbft at 1.8bar iirc
Alan Bell - 2.5 - 451bhp/484lbft at 1.7bar iirc
The above are my vague recollections of different engines on the 321T, each engine having appropriate extras, but some with more than others.
Graham, Alan's car is so so so easy to drive, it does build nicely in the higher gears (you can come out of 30mph corners in 6th if you wish, with very little effort), however, that same torque profile in lower gears, means it may brake traction fairly easy. The same corner in 3rd or 4th, will have you going sideways
The 321T sits in the standard position, has an internal wastegate, its literally, plug and play.
