NO DONT WRAP STD HEADERS/ MANIFOLD
The std items cant take the extra heat when wrapped and cause them to crack and wreck them only safe on stainless steel

exhaust heat wrap
Possibly the ceramic exhaust coating could be they way to go. The maufacturers say it can be done. I guess as you can internally coat as well it would help stop the heat getting into the manifold in the first place Coating Exhaust Manifolds

Very happy with my ported headers which I've wrapped. I think the cause of failure is when they're OVER wrapped and create hot spots. If they're the same temp all over they will be OK. Because of that ceramic coating is definitely a good option for complex shapes. But plain heat wrap does it's job well as long as you're not having to do too much overlapping. I used 1" instead of 2" wide wrap on my headers for just that reason, it's easier to get into the nooks and crannies without over-insulating.
