Default Turbos what are they worth

How much would the following be worth to sell brand new?

TD05H-16G-7 Turbocharger for Subaru Impreza WRX/STI

TD05H-20G-8 Turbocharger for Subaru Impreza WRX/STI.

How much do these go for typically???

Cheers.

If you had them now, brand new, ready to fit an early classic I would be interested.

Be VERY careful, there are a LOT of "Far East" copies out there.

The prices you are talking about are unrealistic for a genuine Mitsubishi turbo.

Default Turbo

Id agree there, for you to be able import them and sell them at £450 AND make a proffit they couldent be genuine mitsubishi parts. I would be amazed if they where the real deal.

Chief,

I can only say that I have had samples from two different sources, on the off chance that the quality could be of a comparable standard to Mistubishi.

I have had all the samples tested for balance, then stripped, inspected, and the tolerances measured.

EVERY sample was out of spec', and on one of the turbos the test for balance had to be aborted, because the VSR balance machine was going to shake its nuts off.

I wasn't prepared to have the Lateral name associated with any of them.

Thanks for your input Mark.

Obviously you've thought of going down the same route

Cheers

I considered they were cheap enough to take a flyer and buy some samples for testing.

Tried it twice, but they all seem to be coming from the same factory.

When I spoke to one of them about the poor balance, he was adamant they balanced them. Turned out they did, in a fashion, at 200rpm !!!

No wonder they were about to self destruct at 50,000rpm

Its quite interesting this Mark and i am somewhat surpised. i have dealt with the far east on a purchasing basis for over 10 years now. and i can say in the last few years the quality of stuff has increased 10 fold.

(not automotive i work in electronic broadcast)

The 'crap' ratio used to be about 40-50% nowadays its more like 5%

there are a lot of reputable companies out there.

I'm suprised they dont test their turbos to tighter tolerances.

But seeing as your an expert in this field and have been down this route i will take your word for it.

Thanks again
