My MY2000 standard UK Turbo seems to have developed a strange boost condition. On the way to work this am I noticed that in top gear under full load the boost guage fluctuating from 0.9bar to -0.5bar - this fluctuation continued whilst accelerating. You can feel the boost surging then receding, surging, then receding....
I may be getting paranoid but my turbo seems to have been making a high pitched wheezy sound recently.
What's the prognosis - as far as I know mileage of 45k is genuine .

 

Have you tried cleaning the boost solenoid first? fairly easy to do and it usually solves this problem
