blown another engine any one no why
driving along fast and started knocking badly then lost all power oil presure down to 5 psi any one know why it might of happened i thik it might be oil pump or my right foot cars has been fine till now but was over boosting every now and then
does sound like the oil pump did fail. correct me if i'm wrong, scoobys arent suppose to do high speeds for long durations.
apparently the air flys over the bonnet scoop not getting into the intercooler?
what a flaw.

They can run high speeds for long durations
though id like to know what fuel/mods the above car had as these could be a big factor in a failure, especially if you have had the engine rebuilt as the oil pump should have been changed!

impreza oil pumps eh,not too many good write ups . you have you looked after it and checked oil levels , amount of people that dont do this is untrue thats why i ask .also is it import what fuel etc might not be oil pump failure might have spun at big end bearing and lost pressure there .like tony say oil pump should have been changed at rebuild anyway along with mondane and head oil galleries cleaned out etc

dont know two years ago i got told you had to remove engine to change spark plugs , what a tea bag he was , since then i have built three engine all still working fine and my own over 400 bhp easy gt30 rotated 2.5 etc . this is what puts people off the others that make stuff up and scare people . not meaning your making this up h , you probally just got it down pipe line somewhere

Sorry to hear about your failure
I would just like to point out
Poor oiling
Block oil ways
Warn bearings
Low oil pressure/ faulty pump
Bearings miss aligned
Poor build quality.
Knock /Detonation
The list goes on and IMO there is no way you can find the cause of the problem without stripping the motor and looking at what you have in fornt of you, other wise its just guess work and not fixing anything…

i think it might be big end bearing the engine was sweet until then though it was out of a legacy though wouldnt of thought it would effect any thing though has lasted a year the last one went because i was doughnuting for 10 mins so i can understand why that went i was only doing 100 and give it a little blitz to 145 then bang

it is true that scoobys dont like fast hard high speeds for long because of aerodinamics .at high speeds the air goes straight over the scoop hence starving intercooler of air hence BANG!!! essex scooby breakers say this is the most common result in blown engines
Not wanting to sound too boring here --- but ----
Are you saying that you needed it remapped (I assume you wanted this because something about the fuel/air/timing was incorrect), but decided to drive at 145 whilst waiting ?
In fact, I've just re-read your last post - so it has an FMIC, but hasn't been remapped for it and you've taken the car to 145 ? Did the provider of the FMIC not recommend taking it easy until it was mapped ? (do you have knocklink and/or AFR in the car ?)
If the above is true - i.e. you've driven on full boost for several seconds (enough to reach 'fast' speeds) whilst the air/fuel/timing mix is not right - I think that you have you answer to 'why has the engine gone bang...'.....
Probably not what you want to hear, but I think that you might want to take it a LOT easier next time you're driving a car waiting for a map change....
Sorry if this seems a bit harse, but its seems fairly clear to me ...

could be the reason but the intercooler has been on there a while and i have give it stick all this time and never had any probs no knocks nothing till now perhaps it just said bollocks ive had enough of this and went seemed odd to me why it would seem perfect then just go itwas over boosting at that speed so that might have somthing to do with it
besides it was a nice clear road couldnt realy resist could you

Which ones were they? I remember the one where the operator was confused about the customer's 'drinks holder' that opened up when she pressed the button on the front of her PC...which obviously was the CD ROM drive.
Just to try to be a little more constructive than my previous comment - If you're going to modify the air mixture or timing factors of the car without a remap, it is vital to have at least some way of being able to monitor the ECUs response - a knocklink display would maybe have shown that 'on previous occasions' the engine was already knocking badly, but not enough to destroy itself. You would have then (if you could 'resist') taken it easy until remap time.
I think that the overboosting should have been the clue here - besides, why didn't it fuel cut, or is the overboosting extremely slight ?
As a point, I have previously run a classic with an FMIC and induction kit, without a map change, using this method without any issues. Also, I've made heavy changes to my previous car - and the one I currently run (I'll be fitting a new turbo in a month for example) which DO require remaps. During the period between mods and remap, I've driven to Chester and back (A GREAT road) completely off-boost and under 60mph for over a month to preserve the engine - and my hard work / investment ! I also have and will drive to Edinburgh under these conditions to get the map done....
So 'could I resist' - Yes and I have done several times....

LOL yes I too find it very easy to 'resist' high speeds and caning the engine too much, following several 4-figure garage bills and a 28 day ban over the last few years. In fact it's a wonder I ever drive anywhere.

Only 400bhp on a rotated GT30R setup on a 2.5.?
You should be seeing an easy 500 on that?????
