Default Knocklink sensor mounting - best place?

Where is the best place to mount a secondary knock sensor on the engine block? I recall changing the stock sensor was a right PITA as it is hidden right down under the intercooler.
Is there a more convenient location?

Thanks.

I guess it depends on what model you've got?
I fitted mine (03 STi) on the block, under the IC on the nearside. There's an M8 hole there, all ready and waiting, and I didn't have to remove the IC to do it!

i put mine on just next to the OE item, on a classic. Its a bit fiddly but taking the IC off isnt too hard TBH.....there are several M8 bolts down there waiting for that purpose
