Truth or myth, over filling gearbox oil?
Next week hoping to bump up my power to over 300 / 300 and conscious of the strain on my 94k MY97 stock UK box. Having done extensive searching on here one thing I’ve noticed is people recommend overfilling the GB to get better lubrication of third which is prone to shredding if driven high torque and unsympathetically. Is there any truth in this and if yes how much do you overfill by?
Plus can anyone recommend one over the other of these two GB oils:
Silkolene Silktran Syn 5
Silkolene PRO SRG 75
Cheers

I beleive people say to overfill by half a litre. Had mine done recently at Zen Performance. I supplied 4 litres of oil, so the most they could have over filled it by is 0.5 litres. Looks like this...
Sorry, can't say which of the 2 oils you mention is best. I used the Syn 5 one. Bit stiff to get into gear when cold, but after a minute or 2 is fine.

Excellent, thanks for all the replies . I've order 4l of the SYN 5 from Opie, spoke with Guy and he confirmed that it would be the perferred choice for fast road use.
